Shall we go north first? Or south? What about exploring parts of the UK we’ve never been to?
These are all the exciting questions and thoughts swimming around our heads. When spending time with others, the conversation often leads to our trip and we have loved hearing stories of other people’s cycling experiences or travels in far-flung parts of the world (and closer to home). It just ignites our wunderlust and desire to hit the road. I also *love* a map…
The other part of the ‘Where to start?’ question is ‘How do we get the plans in place to actually leave?’.
As we prepare for our trip, there are lots of administrative tasks that we need to complete including getting rid of almost all our belongings, selling the house, working out which vaccinations we might need, sussing out visa arrangements, getting married (!) and putting lots of other affairs in place. It has felt, at times, a bit overwhelming but these are the things that we have to work through before setting off and we know that putting the work in now will allow us to enjoy the travelling.
One thing we’re confident we’ve sorted are the bikes we’ll be travelling on. We’ll shortly have an update on the bikes and Sam will guide you through that as he has been heavily involved in the spec and design of the bikes.
The current priorities are to support Sam in completing and handing in his PhD and preparing to get the house on the market. We haven’t found many blogs yet that start this early in the process, with the chores behind planning a big cycling adventure, so I hope you will find this part of our story of interest and if you know of any other resources on trip planning (administration rather than routing), please do comment below!
