Missing the greenery already

March 24, 2026Bimbling Beck

We are now quite firmly in the Sahara… There are camels, views that stretch for miles, wind, and sand. These days we are constantly reminded of where we are, whether the dust is blowing in our eyes as we ride, or walk, or when we take off our shoes at the end of the day and empty a small beach onto the floor.

Looking back through photos from previous days as we do a bit of admin, I’m reminded of the fantastic range and colour of the roadside flora near to Mirleft, around 500km north of where we are now. The long and often straight roads (like they are here) were lined with vast numbers of flowering plants which always gave us something to discuss or admire. To celebrate their beauty, I collected a number of photos so now you can admire their beauty too. I have tried to identify them so if you spot any errors or corrections, let me know in the comments!
