On our approach to Laayoune, we spotted someone walking the other way. As we got closer he crossed the road to meet us and was taking photos / filming as we approached. We pretty much already knew by this point that we were dealing with a seasoned explorer but little did we know quite how seasoned.

During our brief chat with Thair, it became clear that we had many shared values and interests. Remarkably, Thair had walked to our meeting point from Nordkapp in Norway. Some 41000km. Once again, our minds were blown by the people we encounter on this trip.
As we said in our post on Inspirational people we continue to meet folk on our travels that do this. Of course being on the road as we are, you are more likely to engage in discussions and meet people who are doing adjacent things to your own adventure but each one gives us renewed impetus and permission. Hopefully, we’ll encounter Thair again on our travels south…though we have since read he has been known to walk a rather long way some days.
Which reminds us, Heike (Push Bike Girl) is now also firmly on our list of inspirational people. We’ve read a lot of her posts over the past few weeks. Thanks Heike!
