Maintenance log - 26/07/2026

July 26, 2026No locationBimbling Sam

8250km since last full service (Birmingham, October 2025)

This was a big one...after much muck and damage caused, mainly, by the dust and mud of Guinea-Bissau.

Clean & visual inspection

Bolt / torque check

S&S coupling check

  • All four loosened and regreased

Spoke tension check

  • Trued Beck's front and Sam's rear wheel a touch

Tyre and sealant check

  • Replaced Sam's rear tyre
  • Topped up sealant on all others

Brake check

  • Replaced Sam's rear brake lever and pads, and bled system - parts shipped from UK by Beck's sister (thanks!)
  • Centred Sam's rear calliper
  • All other brakes checked and cleaned

Check for play (BB / hubs etc)

Move EBB and seat post

  • Didn't do EBB but seat post moved / cleaned / greased

Other tweaks

  • Disassembled, greased and reassembled Beck's drive-side pedal
  • Greased Sam's saddle rails in hope of stopping clicking
  • Slight rearward tilt of Sam's handlebars
  • Cable tied cables / hoses by Sam's headset - check no issues caused
  • Tightened Beck's main mudguard bolt
  • Hacked Sam's bent rear mudguard to make it more central. Looking forward to doing a proper job of it in due course

Notes for next time

Sort clamp repair for Beck's kickstand (or replace with a centre-mount stand?)

Get replacement skewer nut for Sam's front wheel

Need to start thinking about ordering stuff ahead (Agadir?): new tyres / sealant / Rohloff oil change kite etc. Bikes looking forward to a full service TLC…
