The past few days have been defined by the kindness of folk. Firstly, we had the great pleasure of staying with (friends of friends) Gunhild and John in Stavanger. They were the best of company and kindly gave us a room in their lovely traditional Norwegian house for two nights, allowing us to explore Stavanger and avoid camping on a couple of really rather damp days. Thank you both!
Secondly, we were invited by Per to visit him and his family on our way out of Stavanger. We ate breakfast together, prepared by Per’s wife Linda, and we met his cooool kids, Andreas, Emilie and Johannes.
Per was someone we met about a week ago while eating at a cafe near one of the campsites we stayed at. He was working nights fixing the railway. He started chatting with us after alerting us to the fact that our meal deal should come with a dessert. Since then, we have had many exchanges with Per about route plans, possibly staying in his cabin and meeting his family. What a lovely way to start our day!
We used this energy to take us all the way to Jørpeland today. A great ride and the first of many small ferry rides over the coming days.
