As we mentioned earlier, we had a bit of a rethink about how we were going to travel through Morocco. Although we hope to be back to spend more time here later in the year, we found ourselves struggling with our initial plan of powering through Morocco, in part due to the adverse conditions (which are due to ease a bit soon!) affecting our ability to do so…but we also longed for greater engagement, and some proper hills!
So, over the past three days we took a detour via the Middle Atlas (Day 1, Day 2, Day 3), climbing to an altitude of 1865m, which was challenging and rewarding in equal measure. In fact, it was some of the best riding of our whole tour so far. We got back down just in time, after a high altitude wild camp, as the area we were in has just had a further 50cm of snowfall.
Rather than describe all of what we experienced, I thought I’d pop up an image slideshow, so that you can get a sense of how varied and exciting the past few days have been.
Please excuse the music but it was all of mine I had handy (and I couldn’t use the vapid crap iMovie had on offer…sorry)
