Our Beck had a potentially nasty cockle today after a lamb bolted in front of me and our wheels overlapped as I braked and swerved. She went off the road into a deep, rocky ditch.
After a bit of me being useless (I was pretty distraught at what had happened) and Beck shouting “I’m OK!” repeatedly, we retrieved the luggage and bike and checked it all over. Aside from a few scratches all parties (Beck, bike, kit) seemed ok.
She had a little test ride, cleaned gravel out of various bags and we set off again.
Riding as much as we do, we will have more of these things happen. As few as possible would of course be ideal. In the end, a huge amount of luggage and a four pannier set up, seems to have served to protect Beck and the bike pretty well. Some aches and pains tomorrow I’d imagine but hopefully no further harm done.
